UPDATES:

  • UPDATE on 3/1/16:
HB842, sponsored by Delegate Ben Cline, is on the Senate Finance Committee docket tomorrow!
It also happens to be Read Across America Day…let’s get ALL of our children reading by empowering our teachers in Viriginia with critical training on #dyslexia to help early identification!
CALL/EMAIL/TWEET/POST our Senate Finance Committee to make sure they know how important this investment in our children with dyslexia is!
  • UPDATE on 2/27/16:
ACTION ALERT!!! WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!
HB842 passed out of the Education Committee on Thursday and is headed to the Senate Finance Committee. This is where we need to ask the Finance committee to support this bill and see if they will agree to find the money in their budget, to match the funds the House’s budget line item.
We need the Senate to find $414,000, which breaks down to $1 per teacher for FYE 2017 & 2018 ($157,000 x 2) plus $100,000 to establish the training. Put that into perspective of the VA Dept of Education’s 2 Year budget of $37,117,025,414 (that’s $37-BILLION!).
Link to the House Budget Amendment here
Thank you!
